  1. newcastles fine, theres a few nightclubs and stuff there so you might get a few drunk people walking round, mabey a few pub brwals, but there no "big underworld gangland" in newcastle that i know of...you'll be fine, it's a fun place

  2. As a lone female living in Newcastle for the past 7 years, I feel pretty safe in Newcastle at night. Obviously you have to be sensible and not go wandering down dark alleys or anything.

I think the only place I have ever felt unsafe at night (although nothing happened) was in Byker, which is a suburb of Newcastle about a mile or so out of the city centre, but honestly if you are a tourist you are unlikely to be there in the first place, and you wouldn't be there at night anyway.

Like other cities though, people do get drunk here, and when that happens you might run into trouble but, truthfully, it's unlikely unless you go looking for trouble.

And sure, people get mugged etc, but no more than in any other British town or city so it's not really a cause for concern - just make sure you keep an eye on your belongings, which I would expect you to do anywhere, not just Newcastle.
