Is it safe to go to Russia at the moment?

I'm meant to be flying to Russia in a few days to stay in St Petersburg for a while, then Moscow. I was just wondering due to all the conflict between Russia and Georgia, whether or not it would still be safe to go?

Of course it is safe - St. Pete and Moscow are pretty dang far from Georgia.

For sure, it is safe. I have just returned from Moscow. And a person was correct to say that Moscow and St. Petersburg is far away from Yuzhnaya Osetiya.

I hope so, I am moving to Moscow in 2 weeks. It seems to be isolated to that region. The only thing I have heard is that security is a bit tighter right now.
