  1. I had no problems & was there for 3 months but I met a few people that had been robbed. Just be careful as you would any where in the world.

  2. Just make sure you avoid the slums of Rio, Sao Paolo, or whatever city you are in.

  3. yeap. Just be careful and dont wear gold watches, chains.. things that get too much of attention..

  4. Rio, Sao Paulo, Salvador and Recife are unsafe but if you follow the usual advices you can avoid or at least limit losses. The rest is pretty much ok and comparable to other countries.

    Volcanos???? WTF???

  5. Depend where you go! But if you go to Bahia... Porto Seguro, Ilhéus, Itacaré and Salvador... you don't repent!

  6. Yes, go for it.

  7. safe to  point. better to stay in groups and stay in the metro areas

  8. Not when the volcanoes explode. (I live in Rio and belive me, the volcanoes are really cool but really dangerous). But, I guess it's safe enough.

  9. Not by yourself.  Do not carry cash, they take Major Credit Cards, mostly VISA.  Get a small amount of cash, Reais, to carry with you for metro or bus in large cities and for snacks or trinkets.  Your hotel could help here.  A small amount would be like 30 dollars or less.  Large wads bring too much attention.  Never show more than about R$20 at a time, however.  Last, do not draw attention to yourself as a tourist.  Enjoy Brazil, but do not talk loud in English.  There are a number of Brazilians who do not care for Americans
