IT will have a yard and a fresh water pool for its own life. It would be in Phionex so weather isnt an issue.

  1. One, you need a special permit in any state in the country to have any hope of owning one.  You'll have to prove that you can provide the proper care needed and that you have references from a LOCAL vet that has worked with platypus before and is well versed in their care in case of an emergency.  The vet will not be cheap and you would be required to take it in for annual (or even more often) checkups to prove that you ARE providing proper care.

Two, you will need to make sure that there is absolutely no way that it can escape.  A fence doesn't work well enough as the platypus could dig under it easily.

Three, they (all males and many females) have claws that inject venom.  The venom usually doesn't kill but it can and even if you survived a scratch, it would be exceedingly painful for a long time.  Sting rays aren't supposed to be lethal either and everyone knows how that turned out...

Four, good luck finding someone who can and would sell you one-it's illegal to export animals of any species from Australia.

Five, unless you are a multimillionare you have no hope of affording any of the above.  Being the head zookeeper at one of the bigger zoos would help too.

  2. i dont think you can buy one

  3. they are poisonous.in their claws.

  4. where on EARTH would you get one?! how would you care for it?! you wouldn't, because you wouldnt take it from its natural habitat, would you? .... well dont do it its not safe and its cruel to the animal!

  5. i doubt it. Please do not be EXTREMELY CRUEL by confining a wild animal to live in a depressed manner like a home enviroment. it WILL NOT be a good pet and WILL NOT be happy. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not get one as a pet

  6. since they have a poison spike on their heel - my gut would say no they are not good pets

  7. this shouldnt even  have to be said.but no wild animal makes a good pet, or ever SHOULD be a pet.

  8. its poisonous so i don't think it is a good idea.  If it will live in a pond with fish and you don't ever touch it, it might survive.  Remember it is a wild animal so I wouldn't want to bond with it.
