Is it safe to jailbreak an ipod touch?

I want more app but i dont have the money to upgrade it. if i jailbreak it i get more stuff to do. but i want a safe reliable and step by step information. and can i get rid of it completely later?

i also want to know why my ipod touch have a hard time connecting to the internet. my laptop is on but my ipod says it cant connect to the server.

I jailbroke my iPhone but later restored it. The first time I tried, it didn't work so I had to restore it and try jailbreaking it again. If anything goes wrong you just have to plug it in and restore from your iTunes library.
