Is it safe to kiss your pet hamster?

I have a chinese dwarf hamster. I clean her cage every week and she's very healthy. I wanna show my mom that it's ok to kiss Ming Ming's fur! :) I luv my wittle hammie.

i have kissed my hamster more times then i can count i love him so much and i never have gotton sick and he cant get sick from you most people think that hamsters bite too and that is a lie they are gental they only bite when they are scared or not handled with care

I kiss all my pets all the time! You shouldn't get sick from it, or else I'd be dead by now. My hammy loved to be kissed, and tickled me with his whiskers when I did. Beware - she may smell a little!

My daughter tried to kiss our hamster once when I was holding it and it absolutely flipped out and bit me really hard.

Yes. Kissing your hamster is SAFE and OKAY to do!

If she's very clean, her cage is safe and clean, AND she's healthy (like what you have done), it is safe to kiss your hamster.

ewwww! that's grose, but if it will prove to your mom hamsters are ok then do it once and don't do it again just in case i mean you could get sick, but its not proven that you definitely would.

I've had 8 total hamsters in my life, kissed all of them all the time even when they had wet tail, where sick, about to die, and even kissed one when it was dead. I have never gotten sick either. I asked the people at the pet store and they said it was okay. My hamsters have been pretty dirty and nothing happened to me. I have heard once that some humans have gotten wet tail from their hamsters but if your ham looks healthy go ahead!

I have had gerbils, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs. All of which I have smothered with hugs and kisses. It's safe...I'm not sick. Go for it.

I kiss my dwarf hamsters all the time! Every time I pick them up they get a kiss, it's fine.

i'd say its ok i kiss my rats and they have even licked my lips before and i'm still perfectly healthy. so i'm sure a hamster would be just fine

I used to always kiss my hamster, and like Amber, I kissed her even when she was sick.

I would love to kiss my hamsters now but they're robos and never stay still =(

If you clean your cage regularly, then it should be totally fine.

So that your little one can be extra clean, you should get a potty with chinchilla sand (not dust) or kitty litter, so (s)he can cleanse him/herself there.  It gets rid of excess oil.

Of course it's okay to kiss it...I kiss my doggie which is worse because he drinks out of the toilet....but supposedly he has a clean mouth.....GO FOR IT lol
