Is it safe to leave a golf cart battery charging?

I have a 2001 clubcart golf cart, and i need to know if it's safe to leave the batteries charging unsupervised for more then a few days.

  1. If a battery gets fully charged, it accepts no more juice, so why isn't it safe?
