I love our motorcycles just as much as anyone else, but isnt there a law or age restrictions? My husband seems to think its ok to let our 2 year old ride around on the motorcycle with him, and not just in our yard, but in parking lots and I think its just too dangerous....

  1. You know I really hate to tell stories like this, but a girl I work with took her 3 year old to stay with her sister and brother in law while she was shopping. The brother in law was riding him very slowly around the yard and he fell of and died instantly. I don't know the likelihood of that happening but obviously it can. I wouldn't do it myself.

  2. I strap my 10 month old girl in my little baby carrier to my chest and ride her through trails around the house. Just go idle speed watch what your doing and your little one will have the best time.

  3. No! I feel for your husband you want to involve your kid in the things you love, but to many freak things can happen, I know he rides well and is cautious but that's when bad things happen. As a toddler the helmet cannot fit correctly, a small tip over can crush them, and very easily burn them. I know a kid that at a very young age was doing the same thing with his dad, when they were done he set him off the bike while he was getting off the kid fell back onto the exhaust pipe he has the scars today to prove it. Tell dad before to long the kid will be old enough to ride himself. I started my son at 3. Good luck! be safe.

  4. No!!!

  5. in my opinion 2 is too young to be on a motorcycle period. at around 5 or 6, they are smart enough to realize how important it is to hold on, and they have enough strength in theyre arms to hug daddy tight. at 2...they could see a puppy and forget where they are and what is going on around them. deffinnitly wait till 5 in my opinion. theres alot of motor skills and m,aturing to be done in the next 3 years before they are capable of riding with dad and enjoying it

  6. you are right...that is way too dangerous for a 2 yr old....i would wait a few years...

  7. My dad and uncle always insisted that  "when your legs are long enough to reach the footpegs, we'll take you for a ride."

Made perfect sense to me. A toddler doesn't have the strength to hold on to the rider, or the benefit of the footpegs to steady him.

  8. no, definitely not safe. what if he was to fall off? you'd feel terrible.. i suppose if he was somehow strapped in to his father it would be ok..

  9. You're right. I would absolutely FORBID this.

Your husband is trying to make a friend out of your son, or show off for him, and not taking his protective role seriously. Your husband needs to grow up and model intelligent behavior for your child.

Too bad when testicles reach maturity the brain doesn't necessarily follow.

    ** peace **

  10. around the yard is ok parking lots are questionable

my 2 and 3 year old boys ride around the yard with me when they are not driving on their 50cc sport bike.[with safety gear of course]

    MOTORCYCLING IS A PASSION

  11. use your own judgement. People in the third world ride their whole family on a bike infants included. I would personally teach the kid to ride his own. You are never too young to start. He'll be racing by 5 and maybe a world champion by 15. He'll make a great contribution to your retirement account. Just ask Cory Hart's parents.
