Thinking of traveling around country, just me and my small dog, and saw an ad for a cheap pop up trailer. Is my car strong enough to pull this off? Also anyone with tips on traveling with pop-ups would be appreciated, I don't know much about camping.

  1. depends on the size of the pop-up,and the weight of it,ask the owner of the pop-up the weight of the camper, then u can pretty much determine if ur car can handle it,i would say the car would pull it,im would just be worried about the wear and tear on the vehicle, since some of the pop-ups are very lite, and some heavy,if it weighs about 1500 lbs or less i would go for it , seeing that with that little it  weight would'nt hurt ur car at all.but i would suggest if u don't have one to go and buy a hitch,a good 1,u can get them at any u-haul or drawtite centers.

  2. tents are so much better.

  3. Pulling it probably isn't a problem, stopping and handling it probably is.

You should see what the towing capacity of the car is and what the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) trailer is.

  4. Check with Toyota to see if your cars transmission can be used for trailer towing.
