Question:

Is it safe to put a stainless steel saucepan in the dishwasher.?

I have a large stainless steel saucepan with a glass lid that I only use occasionally when lots of people come for dinner and I usually wash it by hand but I was wondering if it is ok to wash it in the dishwasher. I am a bit wary to try this as I dont want to spoil it (and because my partner bought this).

I would be grateful for any advice.

  1. Stainless steel is fine in a dishwasher, and the glass lid.  It is the handles that sometimes make them unsuitable for a dishwasher.  If yours has a metal handle or the saucepan actually says somewhere on it 'dishwasher safe' then it will be OK.  Have always washed my saucepans in the dishwasher and some of them are 30 years old.

  2. yes

  3. yes but they will discolor

  4. yes,but it is safe to put it in the dishwasher without glass lid.
