eat the nut inside a plum?

If you crack open that shell thing inside the plum, there's actually a nut inside.

I ate it once when I was little (it tasted like cherries) and nothing happened, but I'm still wondering if it's safe...

thanks in advance!!!

  2. No because you could have have a complication is your digestive system.

  3. No it's not. Plums, peaches, apricots and apple pits contain natural occurring cyanide. They are referred to as "bitter almonds".

Heating them removes the toxin. But if your eating them straight out of the shell the toxins are there.

    A few won't hurt you.

But a lot can make you very ill.

Here's a list ( see appleseeds, apricot, peach and plum pits).
