  1. It is like renting a vacation home from someone.

As long as you are careful it should be fine. It is better to rent straight from the owners.

  2. 100% I use www.buyatimeshare.com many times in the past.  Great people to deal with.  No downsides to it I went to Las Vegas about 9 months ago for $650 7 nights thats unheard of.  People can't use them so they rent them out for cost of maintenance fees and taxes.  Buyatimeshare actually has a staff available to help you and make the transaction safe.  I send my money to them they wait for the unit to be reserved into my name then they send the money to the owner.  I looked at VRBO and it is direct contact with the owner which I didn't really like.  With Buyatimeshare.com I was able to contact the Rental department and have them present an offer to the owner which is better than calling the owner myself and giving them an offer, kind of strange to negotiate direct if you ask me.

I love dealing with Buyatimeshare.com they always return my calls and usually can get me what I need.

  3. I've never rented through a timeshare website, but I have rented through www.VRBO.com (Vacation Rental by Owner). I've never had any problems and the houses/condos I rented have always been exactly as described. Good luck.

  4. The upside is you think you're getting a timeshare. The downside is you're not actually getting a timeshare.
