  1. I don't see why not. It's a beautiful place with kind and friendly people. It's just like anywhere else: Don't do anything you wouldn't do at home and you'll be fine.

We know several people that have done it and everything is working out for them just fine.  The only thing that I have heard on the negative side is that it can take some time to work out all the paper work if you want to be part of the retiree program that the Belize tourist board has established.

  3. I have never heard anything negative about retiring in Belize.  I am retired in Mexico. I find Americans seem to over-worry about retirement in a foreign country. Actually, retirees are not usually the types to hang out with drug dealers and take part in risky behaviors...things that would put them at risk in the states and in other countries.   It is just NOT a problem.  Here are some good articles you may like.
