  1. yes! china is already an economic and political superpower but militarily it needs another 5-10 years to reach full superpower status!

russia is a military and political superpower but needs a few more years to become an economic superpower(10-12years)!

  2. Define "Superpower"

  3. Define what you mean by "superpower". Long ago, it was said that a nation is a superpower if it has the following: ICBM's, large quantity of nuclear weapons, a large military, space technology and space programs.

During the Cold War era, both Russia and China were already called superpowers, despite the fact that their citizens' standard of living was below most western countries. So by that definition, economy, standard of living, political freedoms has no bearing in the considerations.

  4. To an extent. The United States is still the dominant superpower politically, militarily, and economically. Also compare the standard of living between the US and Russia and China.

  5. yes and no china has  inexhaustible manpower and a huge production capacity because of their population but the us has modern equipment and lots of it but china russia and the us are the only real superpowers altough anyone of them could b beaten if the other 2 allied against them .

  6. I would say China Is becoming more powerful but Russia is slowly dying unless they can get people to make up for the loss of thier population. People in Russia don't want to have kids so they are slowly diying because more people die than the people that are born so thier population is  been going down. They even pay you in Russia to have a baby. They even made  a holiday for making babies. They are trying to encourage baby making. Russia is definately not what it used to be. The U.S owes alot of money to China and Japan I believe. China is becoming a superpower.

  7. No, Russia and China are not there yet.

Russia is significantly closer than China, still maintaining much of the former Soviet Military strength, with strong political and economic strength. However, it would need worldwide influence and power, at the moment, neither China and Russia can really be active outside of their current regions, and don't have the influence that the USA has, and the Soviets formerly had.

    EDIT:

People here are confusing a World Power with a Superpower, wiki the terms.

  8. I doubt China will grow really strong. They simply have to many problems from within: poverty, oppression, pollution. Their army and police is busy keeping everything in track.

Sure are they strong and want to increase their influence. And of course do they have a lot of influence already. But even though they grow mighty, their inner problems are growing, too.

So yes, they are powerful, but their future is still not clear.

  9. When in your lifetime did you ever doubt that they weren't? Or your fathers lifetime.

  10. I would say no.  China may be close, but lacks the economic power.

China and Russia have nuclear weapons, well-developed military forces and many of the tools of a superpower, but lacking the economic capabilities neither country is at present a superpower.
