Is it safe to sell books online?

I want to sell some of my old textbooks online since I can't sell them back to my school's bookstore because some of my books are out with new editions. I was wondering, have you ever gotten ripped off trying to sell your books online? I've looks at bookbytes.com and read some reviews but I'm not so sure about it. I have tons of books and I really don't want to get ripped off.

  1. I did it in college.  I got paid on it, made 80 off one and 40 off another.  I believe i used Half.com  but i'm pretty sure amazon has a used book, portion that you can sell through.  Old textbooks suck, always sell them anyway you can.  You might think you are going to reread them after college but you never do.

  2. It is as safe as buying and selling anything else online.

I have bought books online. My suggestion, go to the website

Abebooks.com. Of course you have heard of Amazon.com and ebay.

I have bought used books from both the Amazon and Abe websites.

Maybe you can get ideas from them.
