I know it's a really simple and probably dumb question. Just want to take out the heat-lamp, and use that fixture for a regular non-heat floodlight with the same R-40 base. So want to be sure that's safe (is there any way the fixture itself could be designed specifically to use a heat-lamp, and that a floodlight with the same base could therefore cause any problems? I wouldn't THINK so, but don't want to take any chances). Thanks in advance...

  1. Yes,its safe the fixture is rated for more heat than the flood lamp.

  2. As long as the lamp you are putting in there is rated at less than 250W it will be fine.  You could save even more by using a fluorescent flood light.
