  1. well i would but you can

  2. You're probably pretty safe as long as your tent isn't the highest thing around, and you're not set up directly under a tall tree.

  3. No, your best bet would be to wait it out in your car.

  4. As long as it is a low profile and not under a tree.  The rounded edges of a tent are not conducive to creating lightening.

Contrary to common belief lightning starts on the ground and travels to the clouds.  It is generated by sharp edges like a tree limb or flag pole.

  5. NO

  6. Sure. I think that the pegs serve as a ground so that the electricity just goes around you throught the rods and not through your body.

  7. Never thought about it, but it would be kind of dicey staying in the tent will metal framework all around you-pretty scarey!

  8. Not the best possible protection although it will have to do if no ther other shelter is available.  If possible move into your motor vehicle as the rubber tires tend to offer some protection from electrocution.

  9. No, but if you are already in a tent when the storm comes it is more dangerous to leave the tent and try to find a better place to stay. Never put your tent on top of a hill.

  10. sure Do like we did in the military and dig a small trench 3 to 4 inches deep around the tent to divert the water down hill.
