  1. Dangerous odors?? You would have to NOT clean your rats cages for a pretty long time for their odor to reach a harmful level, which supposedly if you care about the welfare of your pets and the hygiene within your bedroom, you are not going to reach. Make sure your rats are in a big enough  wire cage (not a tank) with at least 2 cubic feet per rat, you clean out their cage fully once a week whilst doing  spot cleaning and mopping up daily and replacing paper wool bedding every 2-3 days and your rats should not smell one bit. If you want to keep a window open to improve circulation, make sure the window is not near your rats cage as keeping them in a draft could make them ill. With all this taken into account, I see no reason why your rats should not sleep in your bedroom - just one word of warning though, rats are noisy as h**l in the night! I had mine in my room for a week before I lost my sanity to their all night playing and squealing and the constant click of the water bottle. The rats in question were only babies though, so I'll let them off. I can't sleep with my older rats either though, as they both have respiratory damage and wheeze all night long!

    Hope this helps!

  2. Dangerous odors...? I'm not sure what dangerous odors she means. If you clean your rat cage weekly as you should, odors definitely shouldn't reach a level where they are a health hazard. It's safe, yes.

  3. I agree with everyone the odor shouldn't be a problem. Just keep the cage clean, so you and your rats are safe.

  4. they should be alright if you keep their area clean. Occasionally they need a bath, but if they don't usually smell too bad unless they are ill. But keep a window open just in case.

unless you mean the rats getting dangerous odours from you :)
