even though i clean up my dogs p**p, the ground still seems to smell, since they use the same corner of the yard all the time. i want to sprinkle the baking powder in that corner, but i want to make sure its not going to permanently poison the earth (im ok with alittle grass loss), and im sure the dogs will sniff it and possible l**k it to find out what it is, so i also want to make sure its safe in case they ingest some.

  1. Baking soda is going to change the pH of the soil you put it on, and it's not clear from your question what kind of "odor" you are trying to neutralize.

There's no way to tell you whether it's safe for dogs unless you can specify whether you are asking dogs to eat it or rubbing it into their fur or what.  If this is in relation to odors coming from dogs, a bath would probably be a lot better for them.

  2. Baking soda wont do a thing outside.  You need to water the area.
