    i passed by it when i was going to the Guadalajara Airport, and it looked gross.  


  2. AS the other answerer noted, the water vegitation has been cleaned up and Mexican families let their kids splash in it, you still don't know who's up stream and what are they dumping into it.

  3. I just went to Chapala like three weeks ago. They have made many "upgrades" to the area to make it more tourist friendly. They put in a lot of money to clean lake chapala by clearing out the lilies and  vines that covered the lake. They made a new boardwalk and have made a beach-shore type of thing where people can swim in the lake. They actually brought in sand from local beaches to give it a beach feel. It looks beautiful there.

  4. Lake Chapala has been cleaned up, somewhat, in some areas. Supposedly they are testing the water and it is clean in some parts of the lake. The general consensus is that swimming is still pretty iffy. Some of the smaller  villages still dump raw sewage into the lake but then lots of ocean isn't very clean either.
