Is it safe to swim in a pool that has ducks who swim in it also?

I have a very large pool. The pool is cleaned every monday and has a chlorine tablet. For the last few weeks a pair of ducks has been visiting my pool. The male is here more often than the female, either relaxing on the side of the pool or swimming in the pool.

It's very hot here in LA now, and I have lots of friends who would like to come swimming. I have looked online and haven't found any solid answers - IS IT SAFE TO SWIM IN A POOL IF THERE IS ALSO A DUCK WHO SWIMS IN THE SAME POOL? Again this pool is chrlorinated and cleaned weekly. Any advice would be appreciated - also, if it is not safe, what do i need to do to make it safe for humans to swim in it?

thank you!

  1. I've gone swimming in ponds before that had ducks swimming in them.  It was at the state park, so I assume they would have banned swimming in the pond if it wasn't safe.

Ducks do make rather large, gross droppings which would be unpleasant to step in, so watch out for that.

  2. Ducks are sexually aggressive, but normally only to other ducks.
