  1. In order to decrease the pH of the water, acid is added.  It takes a little bit of time for the acid to get mixed in.  So, if the amount of acid added is a small amount (a gallon) it would be wise to wait a couple of minutes.  If it was a large amount (a couple of gallons), than it would be wise to wait about 15 minutes.

  2. No, the acid takes time to mix in with the water, so wait for half an hour maybe?

  3. You should wait at least 3 hours for the acid to properly mix into the pool water. This is true for both granular acid (commonly known as pH down or minus) and muriatic acid. The granules can attach to your skin and will be VERY irritating if they dissolve while in contact with you. You also dont want to swim through an area of the pool that has a very low pH- especially with your eyes open. By the way- 1 gallon of acid is ALOT of acid. Unless your pH is WAY high you should never need to use that much. 1 gallon of acid will lower the pH of 15000 gallons of water by 1.9!
