I'm 37m, and wondering if it is ok to take DHEA 25mg daily. I've been taking it the last few days and noticed an improvement in mood and overall well being.

  1. As a supplement, look for "pharmaceutical grade" on the DHEA label ~ it ensures as pure a product as possible.

If you are over forty the usual dose is one 25mg tablet daily for women and one 50mg tablet for men.

Caution ~ DHEA is a hormone and can theoretically stimulate the growth of hormone - dependant cancers.... if you have a history of breast or prostate cancer it is advisable that you not use DHEA.

DHEA therapy should be taken with caution, as some physicians believe that high doses suppress the body's natural ability to synthesize the hormone. Animal studies have shown that high doses can also lead to liver damage. For this reason it is important to take supplements of the antioxidants vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium to prevent oxidative damage to the liver.

I do urge you not to self medicate with supplements and get yourself assessed by a fully qualified naturopath or nutritionally oriented physician so that they can guide you.

    hope this helps u

    peace 2 u
