Is it safe to take a shot of 99 proof alcohol?

We just bought 99 blackberries, which is 99 proof alcohol. Is it advisable to take straight shots (not shooters) of this and not burn your throat? Thanks!

Yes....just take breaks between shots and don't take them on an empty stomach.  It wont burn your throat

99 berries is very sugary, and you will be puking if you drink too much, the problem is once you take a couple shots you'll be taking them faster and faster then you'll be sobbing and puking.....hahaha at least that was my experience with 99 berries

I have done shots of 151 which is even higher than that and it burns pretty badly, plus you'll likely get sick the next day. Doing shots makes you way more likely to overdo it to the point of alcohol poisoning. I'd mix it with sprite or something at least...

I'm not clear about what you are asking. 99 proof will get you drunk fast. it may burn on the way down but i think that a little different for everybody. why would you buy it if you didn't know if you'd like it? or why wouldn't you ask somebody at the store.

It is definitely possible...but not advisable.  Regular vodka, rum etc is 80 proof (40% alcohol) and this is 99 proof (49.5% alcohol) so it's not the worst.  Definitely don't take shots of Barcadi 151 (75.5%)...that could lead to the hospital.

99 proof? so well say thats what umm....50% ...yeah itl have a hot feelin but wont do you any harm , thats not much stronger thatn regular shots...but dont do it till youv already had a few drinks first, i know if i took a straight shot first id prob get sick from the shock, but when iv already had a few im always grand...

back when i was young and foolish, well last summer when  i turned 18 n became legal drinkin age, i did shots of absinthe, i didnt actually know how you were supposed to prepare it first,so just took 2 straight shots in a row ...hahah it didnt do any damage (ha!) but yeah had a hot hot throat! that was 80% which would be....190 proof id guess? .....i could feel the heat travel down my throat to my stomach,...felt so weird

It'll burn, but you'll live.  Just don't overdo it.  I've a friend that spent the night finishing a bottle of 99 Banana's (straight, no mixer).  He's fine, but he didn't feel fine the next day.  

We used to do it as "gulpers" (just a swig from the bottle) during some drinking games.  You're fine.
