Is it safe to take hydrocodone 7.5 with .25 (2x a day) xanax (generic)?

Question

I just had a tooth extracted and the doc didn't ask me what other meds I was taking (but I suppose that is my fault for not remembering at the time) and he prescribed me 60 hydrocodone 7.5... and I also have to take med's for anxiety, ...lexapro and .25 xanax 2x a day.. wouldn't that be a little dangerous to mix? I had a friend who was prescribed methadone 40 mg and xanax 1mg and he took them and overdosed (but he is still alive after cpr).... so that has me a little edgy...and he was also prescribed those med's from a doc.. so I really don't know... isn't hydrocodone and methadone pretty much the same thing? You shouldn't mix those right? So would I still be safe to take all of my med's? Thank you for your answers. *scared*

If you want to go to go sleep forever then Yes...j/k...I think he probably made some type of mistake I would notify him first before taking them....Seriously!!!

No.  Hydrocodone and methadone are not the same thing although they are similar.  I don't think your dose of xanax is high enough to be any problem with 7.5mg of hyrocodone.  But you should call the doctor's office first chance you get to update their info.  In the meantime call any local pharmacy if you're not sure.  It won't hurt to skip the xanax but I really don't think it will hurt to take it as prescribed along with the hydrocodone.

This can cause severe mood swings and blackouts. And no hydrocodone is a narcotic and methodone is an opiate. What you are mixing is a pain killer with an anti anxeity med. It wont physically hurt you as long as you stay with the perscribed dosage, but it can cause blackouts. I would highly recomend not drinking or taking anything else with them.
