Question:

Is it safe to touch light switch wires with rubber gloves on?

I accidentally pushed my bathroom light switch into the cover. So I took it off and tried to push it back in without touching the wires and got a little shock. (I'm fine, unfortunately).

Back to the question, if I wear rubber gloves, would it be safe to touch the wires. Preferably with the power on. Or should I turn the power off then do it with rubber gloves?

  1. Use a wooden stick to put the switch off..

  2. NO. haha

It will reduce the shock, but it won't eliminate it.

    How thick are the gloves?

It would be better to turn the circuit from the circuit breaker off.

  3. Of course turn off the power then use rubber glove. Why because although the rubber glove won't conduct electricity but the heat part when you touch it.

  4. I'm not to sure.go give it ago then come back and tell us. it'd be like your doing a community service.

  5. TURN OFF THE POWER!!!!!

  6. Turn off the switch, turn off the breaker and fix it. Electricity will follow the path of least resistance. With your fix, that is probably your brain.
