  1. You know what, those things you see on the news, you can't see it if you were to go. I just came back and everything was normal. I guess these things just happen in some areas that tourists do not go. I would say it's safe.

  2. seriously,

they just used teargas to dissipate the protesters. seriously. how dangerous is it there. Are there only problems in front of the government building or is the whole city in chaos. I was going to book a flight for tomorrow then heard about this. What about beach areas such as Kho Pha Ngan? seriously, whats the deal?

    DiMar

  3. Yes, unless there is a national travel alert from your country

  4. No it's not.  These Thais are crazy people, hitting police with bats and golf clubs.  Airport is closed and my friend can not return from Krabi to Bangkok because these stupid Thais are blocking the roads.  Go to Iraq it's safer.

  5. It's very safe. I live here. They protest about 800 meters from my house the other day and people were saying the traffics were really bad, but when I went home there's no traffice at all because everybody thinks they were blogging the road so nobody went to Vibhawedee Rangsit at channel 11. The streets were really empty and I got home in 10 minutes. The morning was pretty bad though it took twice longer.

Otherwise, the life is normal. There's no chance there will be shooting because the soldiers learned already than to be tools for political moves. Besides, I don't think they have many bullets at the moment, it's approaching yearend you see. Usually, the shoot away the remaining bullets because they might go bad. They then buy new ones. It's pretty funny to clear away all the bullet inventory to keep fresh one every year, otherwise if you have old bullets and going to war, you might shoot duds!!!

Bangkok is normal just don't go to the government house, the public toilets are full.

  6. I would say yes as long as you don't go to areas where protest are going on.  You may run into traffic problems in some areas.  As of this minute police has started to enter the government house and the situation may get out of control in the next day or two so just kept an eye on the news. Also railroad workers have gone on strike this may also cause problems if you plan to travel by rail.

Update:  Now all railroad, and airports going and coming from southern Thailand have been stopped due to protesters blocking roads into airports and railroad workers reporting sick to work.  No don't bother coming here is my advice now. Tourist are stuck at Krabi, Phuket and HatYai no flights out or in.

  7. It's safe.

Traffic might be a little more worst.

If you don't plan to go to the protest areas Bangkok is the same as usual.

High degree of caution - but the below site is updated

  9. yes it's perfectly safe, as long as you know where to stay.

ignore harry, he's a ********. they didnt actually HIT the police with golf clubs.

the public transport's being held back for the time being though.

other than the news, nobody else in bangkok seems very disturbed.

  10. No problems. There is a little turmoil with the ousted PM, not much effect on typical tourist. I was there in July and will be back in October.... Never a problem.
