Is it safe to travel to Egypt?

I am going to egypt in april of 2009 and i just want to know what it is like to travel there? What should i pack? How much can my luggage weigh? What kind of things should i expect from the people there? Are the people nice? Is it safe to walk around? What if you are blonde is it any different?

Travelling to Egypt is a unique experience, because you'll be able to see a span of history unavailable in any other land, from the pharaonic treasures to the greaco roman monuments to the beautiful coptic churches to islamic art.

You should pack light cotton or linen clothes.  Synthetic clothes won't be comfortable outdoors by day while you are touring, but will be fine in the afternoon or night.  A sweat shirt or cotton jacket might be of use at night at that time of year, esp if you are accompanied by children.

The weight of your luggage should conform to the requirements of the airline you are using.  But I think that a maximum of 20 kilos is standard now.

You should expect kindness beyond limits in Egypt.  It is a touristic country so tourists are all welcomed and we do our best to make their stay as comfortable as possible.  

The people are not only nice, but extrememly helpful.

It is extremely safe to walk around at any time of the day, be it night or day. Egyptians like to stay up late and you'll find the streets full of people even past midnight.

A blonde means a foreigner, which means a tourist so she'll be treated with great respect.

After living in Egypt for two years, I can assure you that this is one of the safest countries on earth.

There is much talk about "sexual harrassment" in the streets of Egypt these days, but it is perhaps more a problem for Egyptian girls than for foreigners. This seems to be a problem all around the Mediterranean. So be prepared that men make comments or stare at you. Just try to pretend you don't notice.

Guys who want to be your friend are sometimes a nuisance in touristic places, but not so much in Cairo, Alexandria or rural areas.

And do not bring too many clothes with you: you can always buy some nice cotton items here if you need some more.

just go, no worries at all, people there are very friendly specially to foreigners and mainly blonds as we have shortage in blonds ( kidding )

at this time of the year, weather is good, so only you will need summer clothes.

about baggage you can carry what ever you wish provided that you are willing to pay for excess baggage.

Safer than anywhere i've ever been.

You'll need light clothes cos it's hot all year round but does cool down at nite in the winter.

Luggage allowance depends on the airline you travel with it's from 15kg - 25kgs but no more than 32kgs for any one item though over your allowance you may get excess baggage charge.

Egyptians are the most friendliest race i've ever met, they are always laughing & joking, they have a fantastic sense of humour.

You'll probably get lots of marriage proposals & make lots of new friends plus cos their so dark they love the blondes, .

It is safe

Your luggage shouldn't be more than 25 kg (50 lbs)

The weather will be gorgeous at that time so no need for rain coats and stuff like that

People are more friendly than europeans and americans

They become even more friendly to blondes
