Is it safe to travel to Oaxaca, Mexico now?

I know that the US has lowered the travel advisory - but has anyone gone lately. We are looking at going down for day of the dead. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

When my sister went, she said the rebals came back again and captured the clerk at her hotel. They held him for ransom. They also robbed a bank.

Day of the Dead is not until next November.  Things are quiet in Oaxaca now, but you should wait to make a decision based on how it is there closer to next  November.

Two years ago there was a big incident due to demans of a section of Education Union Workers, that made anarchy in the city for months,

Last year the ones who started all the riot, and the protest were convicted and they are in Jail now, most of the riot  stop right after the Federal Goverment encarcerated those fellows.

You should have no problem traveling there , and I sinceraly recommend it.
