I'm 21 weeks.Last time I went to my doctors I was 208lbs (don't laugh!!). while I was at school ( I train in a nursing home) The teacher demonstrated how to weigh a patient using a lift...and I was 208lbs a week or 2 after my visit. pretty normal.

I weighed myself yesterday and I was exactly 200lbs. Its only been 2 weeks since I last got weighed. 8lbs in 2 weeks? Is that bad??

  1. Well when I got pregnant I was overweight (245) and I have lost 35 lbs during the pregnancy. My OB is not concerned. My son is healthy and doing wonderful. My OB did not want me to gain weight and was glad that I was loosing as long as the baby was gaining. So I would say if your ob is nor concerned you should not be. Talk to him/her about the weight loss if you are worried. congrats

  2. Your fine.  As long as your eating.  Some women can eat and eat and eat during pregnancy and they end up losing more weight.

  3. i lost more weight then i gained during my last pregnancy. the doctor only started to get concerned during the last 6/8 weeks, but then i started to gain, so they were happy.

  4. I've read that heavier women are not suppose to gain a lot of extra weight during their pregnancies. I would say that you are fine as long as your ob is not concerned I wouldnt worry. And you know that your weight flexulates during pregnancy so dont be alarmed I would say, continue to get 30min a day of exercise (unless instructed other wise) eat healthy and smile PURRTY!! Congrats Mommy.

  5. I'm assuming when you weighed yourself that it was at home, not at the dr.'s office or at the nursing home.  If this is the case, the weight difference could be something as simple as having used a scale that is not quite as accurate, since home scales are notorious for being under or over weight compared to the kind the doctor (and I assume the nursing home) uses.  For example, a good friend of mine had been dieting and feeling pretty good after weighing herself at home, but when she went in for her yearly physical recently she had "gained" 12 pounds since weighing herself that morning because of the difference in the scales.

If your doctor notices a weight loss and doesn't say anything about it, you probably don't have to worry.  It is safe to lose some weight during pregnancy. I've lost as much as 12 pounds in the first trimester; and with this last pregnancy, I got a stomach bug in the third trimester that dropped five pounds. But the only time my ob worried was when I was losing weight and had protein in my urine.  If you are concerned, though, talk to your doctor about it.

  6. dont stress about weight gain.  i had twins and i only gained a small amount of weight.   i even lost weight at my 16 week check up then i piled on the weight in my third trimester.   as long as your baby is healthy and growing, you have nothing to worry about.

  7. it is normal to lose weight as well as gain weight as long as you are not dieting and getting all the food you need you are fine.
