Is it safe to use a ceramic mug when the finish starts to wear off?

My concern involves lead exposure. You can see the grey underneath because the finish has worn off through use and washing in the dishwasher. Thanks.

If  the paint is lead yes it is.  The problem is that testing for lead paint will cost more that the cup is worth.  There is no way to tell by just looking at it.  Just buy a new mug.
