Is it safe to use any normal porcelain bowl with painting on its side in the microwave oven?

  1. Biggest problem is usually red color.  The pigments often include iron oxide which will heat in a microwave.


  2. not recommended because porcelain is porous and holds water. the bowl will break. if the paint had traces of metal in it, it will burn off

  3. It has to say on the bottom.

    The consistency of the dyes could have a resonance frequency close to water.

    Some dishes are coated with a lead enamel....which is unsafe to eat off of....and of course unsafe to microwave as anything that contain metal.

    Some metals ARE safe to microwave, but they are rare.

  4. don't use that the item or items have to be plain with no designs printed ones are not suitable.
