I found a pack of 24 AA batteries that were to be used by 2007, are they dangerous to use or just less effective.

  1. I suggest that you contact a batteries professional. I usually go to http://www.batterytex.com for all my battery questions and they're quite helpful and adept at answering the questions.

  2. that is Shelf Life. All batteries will self discharge over a period of time. Duracell started putting dates on batteries to sell more Duracell batteries.

They will be fine, but I would not expect them to last as long as "fresh" batteries.

Just do not leave dead/exhasted batteries in the device because the seals can fail over time.

  3. sure, they just wont last as long under use as new batteries.

  4. No.  You might have some luck, but the battery life, if different for each battery, could damage your camera or whatever.  If it is expensive, it's worth getting rechargeable and always be ready.

My cousin's husband "borrowed" my dad's camera after he died.  He deleted the pictures on the card rather than buy a cheap one for himself.  He also left alkaline batteries in the camera, and they leaked.  I guess I'm still angry about that. The pix on the camera were Dad's last Christmas.

    Best of luck!
