  1. alright, you can use as much bleach as you want, but in order for bleach to be effective you need to leave the dishes or silverware soaking for a minute of two...another thing is that after applying the bleach you sure leave them drying and that is when there is no point of using bleach...there are microbes anywhere and everywhere. They will reach your mentally sanitized items to take over. Don't even worry about stuff like that it mas your life more complicated.

  2. I use a little bleach when washing items that have had raw meats, poultry or eggs on them just to make sure the items are clean. I also use disinfectant wipes on the counter tops. I believe that dirty rags and sponges just spread microbes all over the place.

  3. ~~Sometimes I think we have been turned into germ phobics. There is not need to bleach your dishes. Just hot soapy water gets them very clean and that's all you need. There aren't any deadly germs running around a normally cleaned house. Why go overboard. We truly need some beneficial things around to keep our immune system healthy. Just good old fashion cleaning is more than enough!~~

  4. I do not to much about 1/3 cup depends how much water some use vinegar

  5. be careful. if the dishwashing detergent you are using has any ammonia in it, it will cause chlorine gas when mixed with bleach. it won't kill you in small amounts but it will choke you a bit and burn your eyes.

  6. of course it safe

,it kills all kinds of germs,it not safe on colored clothes lol

  7. It's important to apply common sense here.

Bleach is the greatest disinfectant around.  Bleach is used to kill all those funky germs in swimming pools.  It's used to kill germs in poopy diapers.

It is absolutely safe to use bleach to sanitize dishes, if you're careful enough, and wear rubber gloves.  If you do, it's critical to completely rinse the bleach off the dishes, because if bleach is ingested it's toxic.

If you want to be practical about it, I've been washing dishes for 40 years, and even I splash every now and then.  If you're using bleach to wash dishes, how many clothes are you willing to ruin, by splashing them with bleach?

Bleach is something to be respected.  It's a powerful cleaner and disinfectant, but should be used very carefully.  Splash it in your eyes and it will blind you.  Soak your hands in it, and it will remove layers of skin, depending on how long you soak your hands.

While it could be ok to use bleach when washing dishes, it would pose too much of a safety hazzard to use it on a regarly/daily basis, especially doing a chore that most of us do when we're tired.

  8. Yes, bleach is a great germacide.  I volunteer at a school cafateria and when we do any hand wash we always use a cup of bleach, be sure to rinse well.

  9. Chlorine bleach isn't a problem, just be sure to rinse thoroughly after washing.

  10. Bad idea.

    It does not remove dirt.

It WILL hurt your hands or your machine.

In combination with soap it will produce toxic vapors.

Use normal detergent.  It removes all the dirt (that germs need to thrive).

Also, don't freaking panic about germs.  There are one gazillion germs everywhere.

But somehow, mankind made it till today.

How?   Not by using bleach.   But by having natural defense systems against germs.

Bleach destroys two natural barriers to germs:  It destroys the good, harmless germs that always exist on your skin, leaving room for bad germs to grow.

It also destroys your skin.  That's bad because your skin is a fantastic barrier to stop them entering your body.

Bleach (chlorine) was used as a weapon of mass destruction in world war 1.  Perhaps, just perhaps, the cure is worse than the problem.

  11. Yes, there are germs everywhere!
