I just bought two strings of outdoor Christmas lights, they're the small bulbed variety.

Is it safe to use them inside, on a regular basis?

  1. Yes it is OK to use them inside, but don't use indoor ones outside.

  2. Quote

''Well, On outside lights they have a larger voltage, so if i was you i wouldnt do this.''

    Completely false information

And yes - you can use outdoor rated strings inside, but not vice versa.

  3. yes, I used to use push pins to pin them to my ceilings (white string ones), plug them into a power strip, plug that into the main light switch and use them as regular lights everyday. Very romantic lighting.

Mine were mixed up with fabrics - if you're worried about fire hazard, plug them in for 30 min and then touch the light bulbs to see how hot they get. Just warm will be ok, but hot will melt or scorch fabric/wood. If they're new (recently made, not from Grandma's attic) they you should be fine. They also sell LED types and all kinds of new fun stuff.

  4. Of course.

But they can't be too near water, wood or leather.

  5. Well, On outside lights they have a larger voltage, so if i was you i wouldnt do this. :)

  6. Yes as long as they aren't in contact with any fabric or wood surfaces.
