Is it safe to use the bottom of a plastic bottle for a litter try for my hamster?

i don't have special litter thing for my hamster so i thought that i could cut at the bottom of a plastic 2 litre water bottle and make it as a litter tray thing but is it safe?because my hamster nibbles everything,so i don't want him getting ill.

  1. Hamsters don't typically "eat" everything they chew. They have to do this to keep their incisors down because they are constantly growing. If the thing they are chewing is not edible, they typically spit it out. So having the plastic water bottle in there will not likely make them sick, but it won't last long because they will be able to chew it up pretty quick and you will have to keep changing it. It might be beneificial to get a small glass or hard plastic kitten food dish to put in there as a litter box. You can usually get them for under $3 and it will last a lot longer. But if you really want to use the bottom of the bottle, then it should be okay.

    I hope this helps.

  2. im not any pro :) but i think its preffered to not use that for putting a litter inside of(if u are) maybe if u have a leftover cage use that or something thats a little bigger then that 2 litre bottle.if your using it for drinking try to use something thats not as deep and a better rim! i hope i helped and good luck :)
