I know mexico is dangerous but not many people know that mexico inside isnt that dangerous. You can probly live there with peace and tranqility with a happy life, although do have overlyprotective procaution

“As the Mexican government cracks down drug cartels, there have been highly publicized incidents of violence between authorities and organized crime in Baja,” Torres “Some people in U.S. have asked if it safe to visit.”

Tourist police officers will patrol in 12 specially marked 2007 Dodge Chargers equipped with cameras and purchased for $340,000, four ATVS and bicycles for beach areas. They will wear gray and black uniforms identifying them as Policia Turistica.

“They will be very visible and very accessible,” Torres said.

In addition to starting the Policia Turistica and other improvements in the 150-member police department, Rosarito has taken other recent actions to increase security and comfort for its visitors.

I just came back from 7 days down there through Memorial Day. My son and I did a lot of traveling up and down the coast from TJ to about 100 miles south of Ensenada and then over the mountains to San Felipe. There has been a definite increase in the Federale's on the toll road and on other roads.  They're there to stop the drug cartells.   So they have beefed up their security.  I personally think it's safe, just use your head and don't do stupid stuff.  Like wander around drunk at 2 in the morning by yourself.  At night stay in the well lit, well populated areas.  Stay in a decent hotel that has some security. Especially women should travel in a group or with a man or men. Statistically when you think about how many Americans cross that border every day and then how many of them are having problems, it's safe, especially if you use your head.  While we were down there they discovered these 4 people dead out in the boonies outside of Rosarito.  Well that was an obvious drug deal gone bad.  That's a good example of what NOT to do.  Have fun down there this summer!  I'm going to!
