  1. Oh yeah.  That's one of the safest parts of the safest big city in this country.  You're going right up Park Avenue.  I'd do it without hesitation.

Of course, always keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings.  Still, this is an area of the city I'd feel comfortable in at just about any hour.

If you want, you can transfer to a downtown 6 train at 59th Street, or an uptown 6 train at 42nd Street/Grand Central, to go to 51st Street.  That'll let you off right by the Waldorf, so you only have to walk a block or so.

Either option is just fine.  Enjoy the game!

  2. Yes.

Thats a safe and classy area of Manhattan. As always remain alert though...

  3. It's a very short walk, depending on where you exit Grand Central.   Matter of fact, the hotel was built on top of the train tracks leading to Grand Central.  The hotel is at Park and 49th.  The station is at Park and 42nd, extending up to about 45th.

With that said, I'd say yes--it's a safe and a short walk.  Stick to Park Avenue.  If you're truly nervous, you can pick up a cab in front of the station, but the ride will only take about two minutes.

    Addendum:

I agree with NYCGuy.  Take the #6 local train to the 51st Street station.  In addition to being a bit closer to the hotel. you'll avoid all of the confusion of Grand Central.

  4. On the assumption you will be taking the subway (#4 train) get off at 59th St go upstairs for the #6 local to 51St/Lexington Av.  At 51st St walk down Lexington Av to the hotel (they have an entrance on Lexington Av between 49th and 48th St).

Note:  If the #4 is running local at that point just stay on until 51st St and walk down Lexington Av to 49th St

    And yes, it is safe.

  5. Walking on a major street like Park Avenue is very safe no matter what time of day.  It's only a seven block walk and you should have no troubles.
