  1. yea theyre safe.

how old are u cuz my ma always said i was too young.

but i got them when i turned 15.

do u play sports? if so tell them that the glasses are getting in the way.

or on ur next eye appointment, try to get ur eye doctor on your side about the issue.

  2. contacts aren't risk-free — especially if you don't clean and store them properly.Wearing contact lenses increases your risk of corneal infection. Some of the added risk is unavoidable: All types of contact lenses reduce the amount of oxygen that reaches your cornea — the clear tissue that lies over the pupil and iris — and less oxygen can promote infection.

you may convince your parents by telling them that with contact lenses, you can actually get excellent vision correction and that is a comfortable fit compared to wearing glasses and you also have to assure them that you will take care of it properly so that you'll avoid eye infections.

    here are some tips:

Use multipurpose contact lens solutions with caution. While these combination cleaning-disinfectant-storage solutions are convenient, two brands have been withdrawn from the market because they've been linked to serious eye infections. In 2005 and 2006, 130 contact-lens wearers who regularly used Bausch & Lomb's ReNu with MoistureLoc solution developed Fusarium keratitis, a fungal infection of the cornea, prompting that brand's recall. A year later, in 2007, Advanced Medical Optics voluntarily recalled its Complete MoisturePlus solution, which was implicated in 138 cases of Acanthamoeba keratitis, a parasitic infection of the cornea.

Choose daily-wear contacts, and take them out before you go to sleep. Infections are more common with extended-wear contacts, worn continuously, than with daily-wear contacts.

Wash, rinse and dry your hands thoroughly before handling your contacts.

Follow your eye-care professional's instructions for taking care of your lenses. Make sure you use lens-care products formulated for the type of lenses you wear.

+++let them talk to an eye care professional.

    good luck!

  3. it took me a while to convince my parents to get me contacts but i was just very persuasive and nagged for about 2 weeks full stop.

i got all the information about them and prices off the internet and got the optition to speak to my mum about them.

i told them how glasses didnt suit me, they were impratical for me because i do a lot of sport and how i have prom coming up and if i dont get them before prom then id hate it as i wont be able to see anyone or hardly anything and they soon gave in.

their main concern was how much it was going to cost as they thought they would be really expensive but mine are just a tenner a month and they were expecting it to be at least double.

just tell them all the facts and moan a little and they should sway.

  4. yes.  let your parents know that it's the importance of personal eye care that makes them safe.  I would ask them to make an eye appointment for you.  the doctor can go over the details about contacts, maybe you could get a trial pair, and your parents could think about it.

i wear contacts and they make the world better: your view is like the normal eye instead of only in the front with glasses.  and everybody looks better without glasses (even if you look good in glasses)

another thing: maybe you could research contact lenses yourself and present the info to your parents.  they might change their minds if they see how proactive and determined you are to wear contact lenses.

    good luck.
