  1. Statistically, yes, you are far less likely to be in a plane crash than in a car crash.

  2. You are much less likely to be in a crash flying than driving, but if you are in a crash, it is safer to be driving than flying.

  3. Let's see; I've been flying aboard private and commercial aircraft since I was about 5 years old, so that makes 30 years. With a number of years in maintenance, and several years in the left seat, there have been some hair raising maintenance flights. But I've never been in an accident.

Compared with driving; my mother rear ended a fellow while she taking me to day-care when I was about 4, (the dash of the old GTO blacked both my eyes,) literally being hit by a city bus, (again with Mom,) I've rolled two trucks, found two trees the hard way,  been knocked into a light pole on a rain slicked freeway, (there's a reason the warn you about grooved pavement ahead,) when the driver behind me wasn't paying attention, and the number of accidents where I've stopped to render aid ranks well into the dozens, all over the same period.

So, on one side, I've scared myself silly a few times, (okay, sillier,) on the aviation side, and I've nearly died a number of times on the automotive side.

Aircraft accidents 0, auto accidents 60, (total including pulling over to render aid,) over roughly the same time span, not including incidents of road rage.
