  1. Putting myself back in that same age group, and remembering the experience, and friends I had in school.....after going to high school for 9th and 10th grade, and knowing what I felt back then, I would definitely not want to miss out on graduating with my friends and spending the rest of the school years with them in 11th and 12th grade.  But of course it also depends on the child themselves. Are they willing to do this? How do they feel about homeschooling and missing out on some great things that high school can offer? There are certainly a lot of things to consider since he/she has already been exposed to high school.

After exposing a child to public school and learning from another teacher, homeschooling is basically a "self taught" learning experience. Much different than having a teacher physically there to answer questions and having the opportunity to matriculate with the other students. I would talk to him/her about how they feel about homeschooling before you make a decision.  :-)

  2. I am homeschooling my 7th & 9th grader and plan on doing so until hae graduates

the the 11th and 12th grade in addition to home school if you have a community colage near you may want to consider duel enrolment, it will alow them to not just get highschool credits but they would count to collage aswell

  3. Yes - as long as you are clear about what you want to do and where you're going; and are self-motivated and disciplined enough to make sure you get there.

(And you could still go to "the prom" if that is important to you)

  4. I don't think so. I mean is a person gets homeschooled in highschool, look at all the great things they are missing and will never get to experience again. Like your prom.

  5. It's smart only if you want to do it and have looked into how to do it and are going to make sure it works out fine and probably have the kids on board to do it.

  6. It depends on what your education has been like in the past. It is definitely smart to do so if you have been home schooled for your other high school years.

No matter what, homeschooling can never be a bad choice. you should figure out what your priorities are, and what you want from your high school years, socially and educationally. Then it's you and you your parents' choice.

  7. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of homeschooling.

I think homeschooling in high school is great for those who are committed to doing a good job.

  8. It depends on the quality of the home schooling, and the alternative.

Especially if local schools aren't very good, or there are bullying issues, home schooling is becoming a more popular option.  It's not an easy path, though.

Home schooling done badly could really mess up a child's chances, so it's important for parents to know what they're doing.  http://www.k12.com is an amazing resource for quality curriculum and a structured program.

Apart from curriculum, it's important for a home-schooled kid to have social interaction with people their own age.  Playing sports or participating in scouting, youth groups, etc, are a good way to do this.

    Best of luck to you!

  9. my sister and brother where homeschooled all the way through and my brother is in the honer physics program at colege a year early and started going parttime to colege 3 years early and my sisters geting all A's and has almost a full scolership. so it all depends!!!!

  10. well, if you have everything set up, and the kids want to homeschool, and you want to homeschool, then yeah, I think it's great.

  11. If you have a BA/BS degree or are using a good program like Abeka or Penn Foster, yes.  Especially if you have some $$$ to spend on equipment for chemistry and physics.

A lot depends on what the local schools offer.  If they have no radio station, drama dept, choir, music orchestra, video production, student newspaper, then it's a waste.

  12. not really
