On the show "Joan of Arcadia" Joan believes God is talking to her and takes different human forms to do so. She discovers that other people see these people she believes God has taken the shape of, and they see her interact with these people.

Joan's older brother asks her how she is doing and she tells him that she thinks she might be going crazy. One of the things he asks her, in a whimsical manner, is if she is hearing voices. At first she says "no", then she reconsiders the question and replies "Is it still considered 'hearing voices' if people are attached to them?".

  1. What do you mean exactly?

Are the people they're attached to real? If not, then yes, it's hearing voices, as well as hallucinating visually.

If yes, then it is still hearing voices if what you are hearing is NOT something they said.

Many people who hear voices may, for example, see a stranger on the street turn and say something to them, when in reality they didn't.

  2. that would be hallucinations.... or a ghost...or just good bad drugs.
