if i already got it.

i bought my computer in i think 2003 and microsoft office came installed on the computer (along with a ungenuine version of windows -_-)

and now when i try to open any of the microsoft office things it says "sku011.cab has to be installed" or something like that.

but i couldnt find a place to install it. so is it still illegal to download it from a torrent or something like that even though i bought it?

im gessing the answer is yes -_-

  1. Ah, downloading from torrents are usually ILLEGAL. A ton of people do so. I don't think it would be illegal if the software was free/open source, but who would download a free program from a torrent when you could download it from the original site?

  2. Yes

http://www.openoffice.org/ will solve all of your problems.

  3. As long as you own a legitimate license for a copy of Microsoft Office then yes, you can download a full version copy of MS office. Fair use protects your right to back up copies of a program for archival use, and to use them.

You have to download a full version copy (.iso), not a cracked version, or one that has been altered so you don't need a CD key.

  4. It is, but really, if Microsoft won't supply the missing bits (and actually a .cab has quite a lot of info in it) then you'll have to get it from somewhere.

    Or just use OpenOffice.

I had this problem a few years ago, but one day for some weird reason it discovered the file on one of my partitions.
