Is it still popular to recycle cans and bottles??

we have alot of bottles and cans around the house from soda and beer. and we alsways need extra money and i know you can get like 10 cents a can or something like that.

Many people still do that, and the price of aluminum is definitely up.  Taking it to the recycler yourself is just kind of like a bonus for doing the right thing.  You get paid!!!

Popular? In my hometown, recycling is mandatory. If you don't recycle your household trash, your container can be red tagged (a warning to recycle immediately). After a couple violations, you can be fined. If you recycle your own cans, you have to take them to a scrap yard. I think aluminum is going for around $1.33 a pound. There are approximately 29 aluminum cans per pound.

Recycling should be popular if it is not. Unfortunately, lots of people still don't care about recycling. They throw cans, bottles, boxes in garbage dumpsters. Although waste management companies seggregate recycling material from garbage but I think it is everyone's responsibility to do their part. Recycling is important for environment and help us save our resources.

Call your local government recycling company and they can pay you for selling cans and bottles.

Where I live you can take your cans to recycling centers and they will pay you by the pound.

It's harder to find places that will take plastic bottles, and they don't pay you for those.

But I guess it depends on where you are located.

Yes. There should be at least one recycling center in your town, if not more. As for the money for recycling, that depends on your town and the recycling center's rules.

Well, it depends who you're talking to when you talk about "popular".  I'm all for saving the environment, so it's great with me!  I think it's awesome that you're recycling.  There's no way you can lose... you profit from the money you get from it, and everyone else profits because we won't need to process more aluminum etc. so there won't be as much pollution and stuff.

I guarantee that if we don't do far more recycling then we'll be very unpopular with our descendents... they are going to look back at ours as the filthiest and most wasteful era of human existance.  Recycle and feel good about it, and then you'll be able to look your grandchildren in the eye and tell them you did your bit to stop their world from being a toxic dump.

If you take cans yourself they pay you by the lb.. My husband and I always just save them in a can garbage can. After about 2 or 3 months we take them in.  I dont know about bottles !!!!

I recycle everything I can get my hands on and make a living (although not a very good one) at it.  There are many people who view it as trash.  I call it junk, and get from .07 to 4 dollars per pound of it that I can collect.
