Question:

Is it still too provocative to have a "love Ulster", orange parade through Dublin?

I know there were riots last year, and the whole idea of an Orange march through Dublin, was enough to infuriate the most laid back republicans.

But the Orange order want to arrange another one this year. Personally I can't see any feelings change towards such a march, and could only see another riot.

Maybe in a few years, but not now.

Anyone agree/disagree.

  1. The Orange order marches are a celebration of the UK occupancy of Ireland, and since Southern Ireland is no longer a part of the UK I would say that having an Orange march through there is not a good idea - sort of saying we are still amongst you, just waiting to take over your country again.... so I wonder why it causes bad feelings?

Coupled with that is the political, and religious conflicts that go with the marches and you are still wondering why there might be riots.

If you want to know more, take a trip to Dublin and look round a couple of the museums about the uprising and stuff, in between the trips to the Guiness factory of course - a good weekend away and you will be educated a bit too!

  2. Things are moving forward at the quickest pace for decades, why do people insist on rubbing defiant and provocative gestures such as this in peoples faces and dragging up old grievances.

  3. YES!

Have a look on youtube at what happened last time.

The orange order is a nasty fascist religious hate organisation, nothing more, nothing less. Their marches should only be allowed to be held in their own ghettos in Northern Ireland.

I am not a Republican. It is just that I cannot stand fascists.

  4. They just love stirring s*h*i*t.

I try not to say such strong statements but I hate them and hope it goes horrible for them.

What I want to know is how did Dublin city council give them a licence?

  5. "orange order are facists"

Are you a complete moron? What in the world have they got to do with n***s! Pres. Mary said something similar, aparently the Catholics in "the north of ireland" are treated like Jews in 1930's Germany! Sorry i wasn't aware that the orange order has plotted the deaths of six million people and planned a world war, i, in my ignorence believed that they were a religous organisation! How stupid!

It is stupid uninformed fools like you that have held up peace for to long! How can you condemn the orange order for what a mob of Dubliners did to they're own city?

By the way I think it was bad idea with no real postive purpose.

  6. Why dont Gerry Adams and Martin Mc Guinness get dolled up in celtic jerseys and big posters of Bobby Sands and Micheal Collins and march around Buckingham Palace?

    Is this provocative?

  7. Of course there will be trouble. Last years riots and looting were very predictable and I feel were looslely based on the march, i.e. people were using it as an excuse for causing trouble. The many cars set on fire and shops looted support this, these cars and properties are Dublin owned so why burn them out?

It is akin to people wearing Celtic Jersies and campaigning against "foreign" games in Croker.

Bear in mind, a person is smart but peolpe are stupid - mob mentality I fear will prevail again.

Personally, it doesn't bother me in the least, no more so than anything else that disrupts traffic!!!

  8. totally agree with u!!! imagine if da republicans marched in belfast how wud dey feel? i tink it wud be even worse dan last year! good question do!

  9. Apart from the political ramifications why on earth hold a love ulster parade in leinster?  Surely that's akin to holding an I love London parade in New York, totally pointless and lost on the locals!!!?

  10. Not a good idea. It was a disaster last year.

  11. The signatures are barely dry on the paper.  To do anything that inflames hatred is foolhardy in the extreme.  Reconciliation and peace is the only thing that anyone in Ireland should be thinking of.

Perhaps a 'Peace Festival' would be more constructive.

  12. That parade doesn't make sense at all, nothing could be more offensive to Dublin. I thought politicians were working for peace.

  13. my mother and father in law live in dublin and often send us the papers over to the uk. i couldnt believe it and i have to agree their cover up isnt fooling any body id like to know what would happen if people marched through belfast and how people up there would react and say its a case of people who live in glass houses. they will get their just deserves sooner or later. the whole idea and scheme is ludacris
