Is it strange for someone to be offended when called beautiful?

I have a friend who is pretty much madly in love with me. He always calls me beautiful and perfect and I don't know why, but it makes me kind of mad.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Why do you think this is? Is it linked to like, trust issues or something?

If you've been put down and been called anything BUT cute,beautiful, s**y, etc...you're going to have a hard time accepting that from anyone.

It probably makes you uneasy because you are not used to it.

Take a look in the mirror and see the beauty that others see.

Self love comes from deep within.....you have to see yourself and believe that you are indeed, beautiful and there is nothing wrong with that.

No, I hate it when people call me nice cos they don't know what else to say. It's so patronizing and insulting.

Maybe it's just creepy when HE says it.  Imagine someone you really admire saying it to you ...  that's probably better.

3 theories. 1. If it didn't bother you the first (few) time(s) than maybe it's just that you're tired of the broken record act. 2. Maybe it's just that you're not interested in him in that way and you wish he would stop coming on to you. 3. Maybe you're upset that a "friend" insists on crossing the "friend line". I think the last one is about trust.

How about because you don't believe him?  You know what he wants, though, and through flattery he thinks he's gonna get it?

I don't like to be patronized, so i assume others don't either.

To say it all the time is patronizing, I think!
