  1. I remodel bathtubs and also install showers and many many many people use curtains instead of shower doors now.  the doors are a pain to keep clean. You can throw the liners away and keep a really nice expensive curtain on the outside.

  2. no its not. i dont care what others say. were all going tohave our own likes an dislikes so go with what you want. i have done this for decorating purposes and well i loved it. i also had some candles around my tub and some silk plants. and awwwwww   a hot soak bath with candles and sme lavender in the water..some soft peaceful music and its wonderful. the curtains make you feel like your in a forgotten place. so peaceful an relaxing

    go for it sweetie!!

  3. Curtains aren't tacky -

Those sliding shower doors are out of style.  Curtains are much more in style and what you see in decorating magazines, and you can so easily change them and the look of your bathroom.  I've seen decorating/remodeling shows tear out those sliding doors out because of being dated.  They are hard to keep clean, and they limit your ease of access.  I have a sunken shower and just a curtain.  It's so hard to keep those doors looking good and clean, especially the railings.  If you have kids, it's much harder when they're young when it comes to bathtime, too.

  4. I remodel bathrooms, and I have had the occasional client that puts a curtain on a shower.  We have VERY hard water here, and some folks don't want the hassle of cleaning the glass.  However, it is a little easier to accidentally get the floor all wet, I have found, if the wind/spray from the shower head blows the bottom of the curtain out over the curb, so you will have to contend with mopping up water on the bathroom floor more than if you get the doors.  Of course, glass doors can be treated with something like Rain-X, and using a squeegee (they sell cute ones for showers) after every shower would prevent a lot of hard water staining.

  5. no its not tacky, that's what shower curtains are for.

  6. Sliding doors look better and are less likely to become moldy and smell. If you squeegee the glass doors every time you take a shower and clean them weekly calcium buildup and hard water deposits won't be a problem.

  7. you know curtains have the tendency to flip around and stick on you when you bathe.

when you have a bathtub it stops the curtain from flying around.

Sliding doors have the effect of stopping water from being splashed around. There are doors that are PVC made that is fairly easly to clean. They either fold into 2 or 3, or you can have it sliding.

Alternatively, there are glass doors that you can push open, they look very nice (like hotel styled) and easy to clean.

  8. I think that putting a nice rod and a pretty shower curtain on the opening can dress up any bathroom. maybe get a pretty  matching hook for the wall on the side and use it as a holdback or tie back....very chic! ya...we just moved from a place where we had shower doors...they suuuuck! The doors get scummy if u dont clean them like a freak....the tracks grow mildew unless u take the doors off and clean them like every few days. I personally dont like them. Id much rater have a pretty curtain.
