  1. Ooh, you aren't going to like my answer. But I'll try it anyway

    Actually, journalists are some of the smartest, most interesting people around. They usually are curious and quick, and are interested in language and writing skills. Plus, they aren't driven by money, but by a genuine interest in serving the public and delivering an honest report. Most could make a lot more elsewhere.

    The people that cover events, whether it be news, sports, politics, or whatever, usually are more interesting than the ones in the proverbial arena. I'm not saying they all are perfect, because that's far from the case. Television, in particular, seems to suffer some times from worrying too much about appearance than about substance -- which might be part of your complaint. But many are hard-working individuals who know their stuff.

    Find  the  experts  to  evaluate  the  happenings .

    Are  you  confusing  media  commentators  ( like  rush  limbaugh )  with  journalists ?

    Anderson Cooper  is  a  journalist ,  rush  is  a  personality .

    BIG   difference .

  4. I know what you mean.  What ever happen to the next Hunter S. Thompson?  It's beyond self serving these days.  I wouldn't doubt if they pick these people becasue they make the company look go instead of telling the truth.  The broadcast news is the same too.
