  1. It will end eventually but not in our lifetimes- so stop worrying !

  2. A very unique question.  Stipe may have been right. I hate to see so much unwanted change so fast. If it is the end, then I am more than ready for it. That's for sure.

  3. Yes, as we know this world it is.

We are all going to have to adapt. I think the younger generation will find it harder, doing without their mod.cons.

Sadly, I also think crime will increase. It's going to be a lot different than the 1929 depression, people helped each other back then. My Grandparents told me all about it & I have read many books.

Having faith helps & not worrying.

  4. ....and I feel fine.......

  5. If you're talking about gas prices and all, it's just the end of a two term presidents term. The economy always gets a little weird then. sometimes worse than others. There are no gas lines this time, gas stations aren't running out and there is no rationing. Interest rates aren't up near 20%. This happened in the 70's after 5 years of Nixon ( he resigned in shame after Watergate) and then 3 years of Ford. Then Carter took office and his own party played obstructionist because Kennedy was the party favorite and was soundly beaten by Carter. What I'm saying is that we may be in for some rough years but we'll recover.

  6. financially yes, they need to fix economy by it's income increases.

  7. Only if Obama is elected - I do not look forward to his making us a third world country.

BTW:  Mike was correct; the world as it was known then changed drastically with the collapse of the Soviet Empire and the ushering in of the "new world order".

  8. Mega co- incidental.Just seen him on telly.I love R.E.M. but the world is made of stearner stuff. Maybe we can pull Michael through with the rest of us who have some balls.

    Shambo:switch off,the morning always brings a brighter day.xx

  9. Wasn't that song like at least ten years ago? Sounds like Michael Stipe was wrong by about a decade!

  10. No life goes on,it always changes anyway and in the grand scheme of things its just evolution.

  11. Good riddance to the old world, a world where greed is the god to so many who have no respect for their other humans on this planet.  Who knows this crisis may bring us something decent, this old world has not been so great for millions of people on this planet what so ever.

  12. Our country is experiencing a temporary rise in oil prices, gas and food. This is only a temporary problem. The price of oil is dropping at record rate. The United States has weathered worse storms than this.

  13. Something has to change or it will.  It's not just the economy either.  The crime rate is increasing too.  There is also a rise in many diseases (including a dramatic increase in Autism in children that has been attributed to vaccinations given by doctors) and the environment is in horrible shape right now (dead baby penguins "mysteriously" washed ashore in Brazil recently, in 2006 it was announced honeybees are disappearing and Scientists still don't know why.)

I know honeybees disappearing sounds so small and insignificant to us but Albert Einstein once estimated that if all bees died humans would have about four years to live.

Stop and think, I mean REALLY stop and think about how the world is right now:

    - A popular show right now on NBC catches adult men trying to have s*x with underage boys and girls.  HOWEVER, they do not prosecute all of them.  Didn't see that on TV in the '50s..

    - Americans are more politically divided than ever.

    - Several politicians have been caught breaking the law they themselves are supposed to uphold and have pretty much gotten away with it with little or no punishment.

    - The price of gasoline in some parts in Alaska is up to $8.55 a gallon.

    - In 2006 over 7.2 million adults on probation or parole or incarcerated in jail or prison in the United States.  That's about one in every 31 adults.

I could go but I'm too depressed to.  So I'll just say, if you think the world can go on like this forever... you're probably not alone.  No one (or at least no one in the position of power) seems to be in any hurry to change the current state of the world.

  14. It might be the end of feeling so comfortable as we know it. But no matter what there is always someone far worse off and if we see the sunrise, then we know we are blessed... When my Dad was ill and even though he could hardly breath he never complained and with his dark circled eyes filled with pain; he always embraced the new day with a grace rarely seen... I used to cry inside when I saw him but I will never forget and will admire his love of life until the day I die..........:(

  15. You forgot about "everybody hurts...sometime". But, yes. I think he was right. I'm not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing either.

Believe it or not Shambo, I know what you mean.
