Is it the media's fault,with so much coverage,that a person is convicted before they've even gone to trial?

I believe so,   nowadays people are guilty until proven innocent and even then all the media coverage has tainted their name for life.

The freedom of the press is important as a watchdog but at the same time they do have the power to enact a trial by media so that even if a person is found innocent they may be popularly considered to be guilty.

It is up to the courts to do their best to ensure that a jury is unbiased and has not been exposed to a large amount of media information that would prejudice a trial.
