  1. I believe so,   nowadays people are guilty until proven innocent and even then all the media coverage has tainted their name for life.


  2. The freedom of the press is important as a watchdog but at the same time they do have the power to enact a trial by media so that even if a person is found innocent they may be popularly considered to be guilty.

    It is up to the courts to do their best to ensure that a jury is unbiased and has not been exposed to a large amount of media information that would prejudice a trial.
